As an historical patrimony and cultural inheritance of our spirituality and of our mission, the archives have a scientific and apostolic dimension to them that goes far beyond a purely administrative character. As “Places of Memory,” they become powerful instruments in the evangelization of cultures. Note Father Arrupe’s words on this matter:
God has blessed the Society with an incomparable fund of documents which allow us to contemplate clearly our origins, our fundamental charism.” To continue this tradition with interest and assiduity is to follow in the footsteps begun of old and to guarantee to those who follow afterwards a rich documentation similar to that which we have received from our ancestors.
